Students with Executive Function Disorders Find Support, Tools, and Confidence at MY Education Guru

MY Education Guru is opening the doors of its new facilities at 11500 W Olympic Blvd Suite 350 Los Angeles, CA, 90064, bringing holistic solutions to families of children with executive functioning disorders through research-backed methodologies.

MY Education Guru has created individual programs to assist students who have difficulties with executive functioning skills. Executive function disorders in children are problems with self-regulation that can cause serious difficulties at school and at home. Trouble with executive function skills, such as working memory, inhibitory control (self-control and managing emotions), flexible thinking, and the ability to complete tasks once started can be very challenging, even crippling, to a child’s success in school. MY Education Guru’s team of executive functioning coaches works with students on an individual basis to develop tools for school and life.

Executive function disorders are more widespread than most people think. Over ten percent of American children ages 2-16 have been diagnosed with ADHD, a condition that presents many executive function struggles. Other learning disabilities, depression, and brain damage can also include executive function disorders in their symptoms. Boys are about three times more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD or other executive function disorders than girls. MY Education Guru specializes in developing working memory, inhibitory control, and flexible thinking tools for our students.

MY Education Guru’s comprehensive assessments create individualized, holistic programs for students in middle school through college. “When it comes to challenges with executive functioning, no two students are alike,” says MY Education Guru founder, Yi Chang. “Every student has a unique combination of challenges and personal circumstances, so we have to work closely with the student and the parents to come up with compensatory strategies for their executive functioning.”

The results of executive functioning coaching can be profound. As parent Valerie S. put it, “We struggled for several years with a bright mind that lacked confidence and needed help focusing thoughts into action. Thanks to MEG, not only has [our son] gained the confidence to excel in school, most importantly, he has learned a better understanding of areas in his learning process that he can work through to achieve his goals—an invaluable life skill he applies every day.” Students who have been coached at MY Education Guru have gone on to study independently at universities, such as Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Otis, and UC Berkeley.

MY Education Guru provides comprehensive educational coaching services personalized for each student’s unique learning style. Their holistic approach to student success includes academic services, such as executive functions support, tutoring and test preparation as well as therapeutic services like yoga and therapeutic art classes. MY Education Guru develops a meaningful rapport with their students and offers detailed learning assessments to pinpoint the best ways to help students learn, develop, and excel.

Founded in 2017 by Yi Chang, MY Education Guru has helped over 100 students to date in West LA, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Southbay, and Palos Verdes overcome the challenges of executive functioning disorders to find improved grades in school and greater prospects for their academic futures.

MY Education Guru, a learning center in West LA, offers Executive Functioning coaching for students of all learning styles and backgrounds. ---
