"The implementation of Smart911 in Suffolk County (NY) is a common sense emergency measure which allows for efficient deployment of personnel and resources during critical situations," said Suffolk County Executive, Steve Bellone . "Any information you can have in the event of a medical or mass casualty incident can greatly aid the response process. Between Suffolk County's deployment of Smart911 and the integration with ICE Standard, our emergency responders will be better prepared to respond to emergencies having access to critical information about patients."
Introduced nearly three years ago, Smart911 has grown rapidly and is now available in 29 states and more than 350 municipalities. With Smart911, citizens create Safety Profiles online that contain details about their household they want 9-1-1 to have during an emergency. When a citizen places a 9-1-1 call, their Safety Profile is displayed to the call-taker and data can be immediately relayed to teams in the field for a better understanding of a situation and more effective emergency response. Fire crews can know such things as how many people live at a home and the location of bedrooms. EMS can know about specific medical conditions for fast, precise medical treatment. And because profiles contain photos, in the event of a missing child, police can gain an advantage by receiving an image in seconds versus hours.
The ICE Standard App has a special feature on a smartphone lock screen which displays a person's updated medical information, emergency/medical contacts, medical insurance information,
