Free Skin Cancer Screenings May 4th Precede Melanoma Monday in 14 Cities
Date:4/18/2013

PANAMA CITY, Fla., April 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- To heighten awareness of the most deadly form of cancer, melanoma, Gulf Coast Dermatology is offering free full-body skin cancer screenings in 14 cities on Saturday, May 4th. New patients can schedule appointments between 9 a.m. and noon by calling toll-free 1-877-231-DERM (3376).

Board-certified dermatologist and Gulf Coast Dermatology President, Jon R. Ward , MD, states,  "Melanoma Monday was created to draw attention to this deadly form of cancer that will affect 80,000 people in 2013, with over 9,000 patients expected to die this year. The rates of melanoma continue to rise, especially in young women, and is now the most common cause of cancer death in young adults, ages 25 to 29."

"We provide these free screenings to hopefully save lives. In the six years we've offered these, there has been at least one case of melanoma diagnosed each time. We hope by doing this, we can reach those who may have never thought about an annual screening, or those who may not have access to dermatological care."

These full-body skin cancer screenings will be held by appointment at Gulf Coast Dermatology offices in the following cities:

Panama City, FL; Panama City Beach, FL; Santa Rosa Beach, FL; Marianna, FL; Niceville, FL; Crestview, FL; Gulf Breeze, FL; Jacksonville, FL; Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; Sarasota, FL; Tallahassee, FL; Valdosta, GA; Auburn, AL; and Dothan, AL.

For more information, please call 1-877-231-DERM (3376).
