AseptiScope™ Recognized for Innovative Stethoscope Hygiene Technology

AseptiScope, a privately funded San Diego, California based, clinical innovation company, has been named the 2020 Infection Control Company of the Year by MedTech Outlook.

“AseptiScope is pleased to receive this recognition,” said Kelly Powers, AseptiScope cofounder and Chief Operating Officer. “For the first time, clinicians who wear gloves on their hands, goggles on their eyes, covers on their shoes, and gowns on their bodies will have a practical protective barrier for their most frequently used medical device, the stethoscope.”

“We salute AseptiScope for tackling the longstanding gap in infection control posed by the current set of approaches to stethoscope hygiene,” said Alex D’Souza Managing Editor of MedTech Outlook. “AseptiScope promises to set a new standard in stethoscope hygiene, offering protection for both patients and clinicians at a time when infection control is the utmost priority.”

About the MedTech Company of Year Award
With the COVID-19 pandemic warranting a thorough assessment of infection prevention practices, medical instruments like the stethoscope have high utility in the treatment of COVID-19 patients, and as such, should be used with vigilance to protect the lives of both patient and practitioner. To this end, AseptiScope was founded to meet the clinical needs in the infection control space.

The editorial panel of Medical Tech Outlook found that the company has designed intuitive products based on the situational analysis of market needs, the prime reason to select AseptiScope as the company of the year. They also believe that the company has engineered solutions that help clinicians treat their patients without the risk of stethoscopes turning into vectors for disease transmission.
