APNA Launches Executive Director Search

The American Psychiatric Nurses Association announced today that it has opened its search for a new executive director to succeed current executive director Nicholas Croce Jr., MS. The search will be led by an APNA Executive Director Search Committee composed of select members of the Board of Directors, past APNA Presidents, and Council and Chapter leaders.

“Psychiatric-mental health nurses are a vital part of today’s health care system and APNA is an invaluable resource to support us in our work. The organization is thriving and poised to make a successful and smooth transition to new leadership,” says APNA President and Executive Director Search Committee Chair Gail Stern, RN, MSN, PMHCNS-BC.

APNA will be accepting resumes through August 31, 2019, at which point suitable candidates will be contacted for an initial phone interview. The APNA Search Committee plans conduct the search over the last half of 2019 with a goal of recommending up to four final candidates to the APNA Board of Directors during the fourth quarter of 2019.

The current APNA Executive Director, Nicholas Croce Jr., MS, is retiring after 13 years in the position. Under his leadership, the organization has seen sustained stability and dramatic growth. “It has been my privilege to enjoy the support of a strong Board of Directors and a talented team of staff,” says Croce. “The next Executive Director will not find a better place to work.”
