A Forever Recovery Battle Creek, MI: Increasing Recreational Drug Use in Colleges Creates Risk for Addictions
Date:1/30/2013

BATTLE CREEK, Mich., Jan. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Although many books, movies and television programs may poke fun or make light of prescription drug use, a recent article from Highbrow Magazine presents comprehensive evidence that suggests this type of drug abuse is a serious problem. More specifically, the article addresses the heavy abuse of prescription medication—such as opioids and antidepressants—on college campuses. A Forever Recovery, Battle Creek, MI based rehabilitation facility, concurs that this form of addiction and substance abuse is rampant among today's college students, and is something that deserves more careful observation and precaution.

Commonly abused prescription medications—including Ambien, Adderall, Xanax and Oxycontin—are described by the article of usually having their root on college campuses for genuine reasons. For instance, some students may find that the anxiety, stress and other mental aspects of college life are hard to face without these drugs. However, the article suggests that a serious lack of regard for the potency of these medications has led many academics to abusing the substances, either for recreation or becoming unknowingly addicted.

A Forever Recovery comments in a recent press statement, "As an inpatient substance abuse center, A Forever Recovery Battle Creek, MI has welcomed many college students into its program, because they abused prescription medications to improve their performance in school. Many of these clients have stated that they originally used the medication to address problems staying awake to study, increasing focus, getting to sleep and losing weight. Although their initial use was for a specific purpose, our clients have realized that they were addicted and needed come into treatment."
