Protein Fragments Blocking Cures Alzheimer's Disease

Professor Yadong Huang and his team from Gladstone Institute of Neurological Disease have found that the protein apolipoprotein E (apoE) is responsible for causing Alzheimer's disease //that acts by inactivating the conversion of glucose into energy in Mitochondirial cells due to the protein fragments released from apoE.

The apoE protein is found to be responsible for causing Alzheimer’s disease by not providing the glucose present in the brain to the neurons causing brain cell death. The apoE protein consisted of 299 amino acids and is responsible for causing neurotoxicity. The researchers feel that the apoE protein is responsible for mitochondrial dysfunction and instability and the researchers feel that by blocking the apoE protein fragments it is possible for developing better treatment options for Alzheimer’s disease.
