Free Treatment For Endosulfan Victims: Minister

Free treatment would be provided to persons suffering from chronic diseases caused by the spraying of endosulfan in the cashew plantations in Kasaragod district, Health Minister P K Sreemathi said tody. //

Addressing a meet-the-press programme here, she said the treatment would be made available to all those who had been given `disability cards' by the government.

A separate department for the welfare of women and children would be formed under the Health Ministry. A Public Health Centre or Community Centre in each assembly constituency would be developed as `model hospitals' with all facilities.

The ministry would ensure that the funds of Hospital Development Societies was utilised for development works only. More sections of people would be encouraged to participate in the activities of such societies, she said
