Rochester Treatment Center Launches Cocaine-Specific Treatment Program to Fight Back National Trend
Date:12/16/2013

Rochester, NY (PRWEB) December 16, 2013

A Rochester treatment center is announcing that a new program focused upon relief from cocaine addiction has been launched through Drug Addiction Treatment Centers.

According to a report from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Serviices, in 2012, there were 639,000 persons aged 12 or older who had used cocaine for the first time within the past 12 months; this averages to approximately 1,800 initiates per day. This estimate was similar to the number in 2008 to 2011 (ranging from 623,000 to 724,000). The annual number of cocaine initiates declined from 0.9 million or 1.0 million in 2002 through 2007 to 639,000 in 2012.

The number of initiates of crack cocaine ranged from 209,000 to 353,000 in 2002 to 2008 and declined to 95,000 in 2009. The number of initiates of crack cocaine has been similar each year since 2009 (e.g., 84,000 in 2012). In 2012, most (76.2 percent) of the 0.6 million recent cocaine initiates were 18 or older when they first used. The average age at first use among recent initiates aged 12 to 49 was 20.0 years. The average age estimates have remained fairly stable since 2002.

This and other programs that focus on alcoholism expand upon the center’s already established substance abuse structure, offering additional hours of individual counseling and support.

The program offers a collective style of treatment options for clients. Ultimately, its bottom line is to help all clients leave the addiction treatment center with a structure in place for life outside of it. People come into these types of centers looking either for a new life or relief from their pain, and counselors and therapists on staff are ready to help.

Entering the Rochester rehab center gives clients a new chance to be responsible members of society once again. They come to find themselves, discover new levels of self-esteem, and a spirituality that works.

An initial step is detoxification from all mind-altering substances. This is overseen by a well-trained medical staff, making sure clients are supported, guided and nurtured through these initial hours and days free from their drug of choice.

This is followed by counseling and therapeutic help and support. Learning to navigate through everyday life without drugs and alcohol is akin to giving someone traveling through different states and/or nations a map and directions. Adults and adolescents will understand that this is a process, one that is not over in a matter of days. The substance abuse treatment center helps people rebuild their lives from the inside out.
