Robin McGuinness is Named Regional Chief Clinical Officer for the Florida Hospital West Florida Region

Florida Hospital has named Robin McGuinness as the Regional Chief Clinical Officer for the Florida Hospital West Florida Region. McGuinness brings experience in executive leadership and clinical practice, as well as a successful track record in leading and engaging staff, physicians and leaders.

In her new role, that officially begins December 12, 2016, she will set the vision and strategy for nursing care and clinical services for the Florida Hospital West Florida Region. She will also provide leadership to assure the best clinical work processes that are both efficient and cost effective through all clinical care areas including: nursing, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, occupational therapy, radiology and imaging.

McGuinness will also continue to serve as the Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Florida Hospital Carrollwood, a 120-bed community hospital. As part of the senior leadership team, she has direct oversight of clinical operations, inpatient nursing, surgical services, emergency services, laboratory, pharmacy, therapy services, imaging and cardiology. Florida Hospital Carrollwood received the Florida Hospital Association award for Leadership in Quality and Safety in 2014 and 2015.

Prior to her executive leadership role at Florida Hospital Carrollwood, McGuinness served as the Chief Nursing Officer at Venice Regional Medical Center, a 312-bed community hospital located in Venice, Florida. As a senior team member with direct oversight of operations on inpatient nursing, she stabilized nursing workforce with reduction in RN turnover from 28% to 12% in three years through creation of specialty programs, improved nursing orientation program and advanced education. The scope of the role included Surgical Services and Emergency Department operations, along with a team of 500 to manage and support. She also held leadership roles at Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center in Fort Myers, Florida. As well as New Britain General Hospital in New Britain, Connecticut.

McGuinness received her Doctor of Nursing Practice, Health Systems Leadership from Florida State University. She earned her MSN, Nursing Administration from the University of Hartford in West Hartford Connecticut and earned her BSN in Nursing from St. Joseph’s College in Windham, ME. She holds the professional certification of American Nurses Credentialing Center Board Certification as Nurse Executive. She has also received numerous awards and recognition throughout her career including Health Management Associates CNO of the Year and the Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing. McGuinness is currently a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.
