Plastic Surgery Benefits Highlighted by Real Housewives’ Celebration of their Enhancements, says Dr. Michael A. Jazayeri

An August 8th article on Glamour reported on the stars of the Real Housewives franchise celebrating and openly discussing the plastic surgery they’ve had done in interviews promoting a new promotional music video. The women said they hoped to empower others with their message of being out and proud with their procedures and that there’s no reason for shame when it comes to enhancing one’s features. The important thing to remember, the reality stars stressed, is feeling confident in one’s own skin. Orange County-based plastic surgeon Dr. Michael A. Jazayeri agrees with the Real Housewives, saying that the desire to enhance facial features or improve the appearance of the body is only natural and, beyond making patients look more attractive, procedures can help them to become more confident.

Dr. Jazayeri notes how easy it can be to dismiss the importance of self-esteem and body confidence. Whether or not one approves, appearances matter in both the workplace and in one’s personal life, especially in beauty-obsessed Southern California, Dr. Jazayeri says. He adds that facials and getting a new hairstyle are not so terribly different from getting a breast augmentation or facelift. While plastic surgery is obviously a more serious commitment, all of these measures are simply about helping an individual to look and feel like the best version of themselves possible, he says.

The Orange County plastic surgeon says that, with ongoing advancements in medical knowledge and technology, improving an individual’s features has never been safer or easier to achieve. Dr. Jazayeri says that, for those who might not be ready for an actual plastic surgery, many procedures such as injectables or fillers can often be completed in the time it takes for a lunch break with no recovery downtime required. These treatments are noninvasive and don’t require the sort of time and commitment a plastic surgery does. On the other hand, their benefits are mostly temporary, he adds.

Dr. Jazayeri notes that it’s important for patients to realize that not all surgeons hold the same qualifications or certifications; there is an important difference between plastic surgeons and cosmetic surgeons. The latter can be almost any qualified physician; plastic surgeons, on the other hand, must have an additional two years of schooling and on-the-job training. Moreover, board-certified plastic surgeons are by far the safest choices as, aside from their additional training, they have met the rigorous standards set by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ASPS).

Dr. Michael Jazayeri is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has been practicing for over two decades. Readers who would like to learn more about his services can call (714) 834-0101 or visit his office’s website at
