NBC Digital Health Network Upgrades WEGENER(R) Compel(R) Network Control System and Adds MediaPlan(R) Content Management System
Date:3/5/2009

It is delivered in a store-and-forward manner to WEGENER iPump(R) media servers, which run on the hospital's cable system. The video plays out according to scheduled playlists as if it were a live channel.

The Newborn Channel and The Patient Channel are scheduled, managed, and delivered from the newly upgraded WEGENER network control system at NBC Digital Health Network's broadcasting center in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

As a result of the network upgrade, the Compel(R) system can now interface directly with the NBC Digital Health Network's in-house traffic system which schedules content and localizes content to suit specific audience segments. And, the new MediaPlan(R) content management solution offers a more efficient, improved file-based workflow for programming and advertising content.

"We're extremely pleased to support the NBC Digital Health Network in its efforts to provide consumers with valuable information pertaining to their health and well-being," said Ned L. Mountain, president and chief operating officer of WEGENER. "The Compel(R) upgrade and addition of content management streamlines the management of these 24/7 broadcast networks, adding full control over the scheduling and distribution of content to their Unity(R) media receivers and iPump(R) media servers. This ultimately enables the NBC Digital Health Network to grow, reach, and serve a much larger global audience."

"By upgrading our Compel platform to Linux and adding MediaPlan Content Management, we have gained more efficient file-based management over the scheduling and distribution of our two channels from a single operations site," said David Ross, Vice President of Hospital Business, for NBC Digital Health Network. "We're also able to ensure the highest quality video experience for millions of patients and their families, with the potential to increase the number of localized ads, programs, and channel line-ups we offer."'/>"/>
