Muscular Development Store Comments on Efficacy of Protein Blends
Date:2/6/2013

Setauket, NY (PRWEB) February 06, 2013

On February 6, 2013, Muscular Development Store comments on new findings which suggest that multi-source protein blends like those offered by Gaspari Nutrition offer superior results to single-source protein supplements for athletes looking to build muscle mass.

A recent article in NutraIngredients-USA describes the result of a new study published in the Journal of Nutrition. The study compared the performance of protein blends to single protein sources when consumed after resistance exercise. This is the first study of this kind, according to the article. “Sources of high-quality protein contain all the essential amino acids and have individual characteristics thought to offer a unique advantage for muscle growth,” said the lead researcher from the study.

Participants consumed either a protein blend or whey protein alone. “The protein meals were consumed one hour after a bout of high-intensity resistance exercise, and both contained similar amounts of leucine, a key amino acid involved in muscle cell signaling pathways that regulate muscle protein synthesis rates,” says the article.

The results showed that the blend stimulated muscle growth to a similar extent as the whey protein alone. However, according to the article, researchers found that “the blend prolonged the increase in the rate of muscle protein synthesis from rest for a longer amount of time than whey alone.”

Brian Turner of Muscular Development Store comments on the findings, noting that protein blends have been increasing in popularity for some time. “It’s a trend we expect to continue, and this study confirms their apparent benefits,” he says, sinc
