Modern Healthcare Ranks Robins & Morton No. 6 Contractor
Date:3/30/2015

Birmingham, Alabama (PRWEB) March 30, 2015

In its 2015 survey of construction and design companies, Modern Healthcare magazine ranked Robins & Morton sixth among the top general contractors in healthcare construction, based on 2014 revenues. Robins & Morton has specialized in healthcare construction for more than half of their 69 year history.

Robins & Morton ranked on the list with $657 million in revenue for completed construction projects in 2014. The company built 2.6 million square feet with 82 percent of its work in healthcare projects across 20 states. Since the inception of the Modern Healthcare Construction and Design survey in 1986, Robins & Morton has been ranked for 27 consecutive years, each year among the top six contractors, including six No.1 rankings.

This year, Robins & Morton was also included on Modern Healthcare’s first listing of most active LEED projects, with 10 under construction in 2014.

Robins & Morton recently completed the 132,000-square-foot vertical expansion at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. This fast track project included the addition of a seventh and eighth floor above the hospital’s existing six-story base. Despite logistical challenges posed by adding a vertical expansion over an operating patient tower, Robins & Morton was able to collaborate with the hospital and complete the project implementing “silent construction.” This technique successfully minimized disruption to hospital operations.

After completing a new hospital for Tenet Healthcare in 2008, Robins & Morton was invited back to Sierra Providence East Medical Center to complete an addition and renovation. The project included a four-story new patient tower and penthouse, which tied into the building at each of the five floors’ elevator lobbies. A detailed system was implemented to allow day-to-day hospital operations to persist during construction.
