Mirena Lawsuits: Bernstein Liebhard LLP Disturbed by New Study Finding IUDs Safe for Teens, In Light of Alleged Mirena Complications
Date:4/27/2013

New York, New York (PRWEB) April 27, 2013

As Mirena lawsuits continue to move forward in courts throughout the country, a new study has declared that IUDs can provide a safe form of birth control for teenaged girls. Among other things, the study, which appears in the May issue of Obstetrics & Gynecology, found the rate of complications associated with IUDs did not differ with age.* Bernstein Liebhard LLP is concerned by the study’s recommendations, in light of the numerous lawsuits that have been filed in state and federal courts by women who suffered serious complications, allegedly due to the Mirena IUD.

“Mirena complications alleged in lawsuits, including uterine perforations and device migration, can have life-long consequences for a young woman’s reproductive health. And it should also be pointed out that the Indications for Use of the Mirena recommend the IUD for women who have already had at least one child,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices.** The Firm is currently offering free Mirena IUD lawsuit evaluations to women who suffered serious injuries allegedly due to this device.

The Mirena IUD was approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for contraception in 2000, and in 2009, for the treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding in women who wish to use an IUD as their method of birth control. *** Since its launch, statistics from the FDA indicate that Mirena complications, including incidents of device migration, have been cited in thousands of adverse event reports made to the agency.****

In 2009, the FDA issued a warning letter to Bayer Healthca
