March 22-28 is Cover the Uninsured Week
Date:3/26/2009

ssistance is growing among our communities," said Florencia Velasco-Fortner, president of the Dallas Concilio. "Through this program we are working to bridge the gap between Latinos and access to health care, particularly for those who are uninsured."

In Dallas, Pfizer Helpful Answers will continue to work with the Dallas Concilio and will partner with CentroMed in San Antonio to train the promotores on patient assistance programs and other health care resources that are available to uninsured. Training is underway in those cities in time for Cover the Uninsured Week, a national effort to highlight the fact that too many Americans are living without health insurance. The program is expected to expand into Corpus Christi in April.

The promotores (community health worker) play a critical role in promoting community-based health education by providing culturally sensitive information and services. In this case, the promotores will act as a bridge between uninsured community residents in need of prescription assistance, Pfizer Helpful Answers, other industry programs and other healthcare resources.

Since its inception in 2007, the Promotores Initiative has reached thousands of patients in the Dallas area and educated over 1,200 community service providers about the program.

For more information or to apply to the Pfizer Helpful Answers program, call toll free 1-866-706-2400 or visit www.PfizerHelpfulAnswers.com. Information is available in English and Spanish. Pfizer also participates in the Partnership for Prescription Assistance, a single point of access to more than 475 public and private patient assistance programs. For more information on this program, visit www.pparx.org or call 1-888-4PPA-NOW.
