Garland Canada Introduces White-Stallion® All-Purpose Primer for Metal Roofs

Garland Canada Inc. recently introduced White-Stallion® Metal Primer coating, a durable, all-purpose aromatic urethane with non-lifting properties that make it an ideal primer for urethane topcoats. The primer offers excellent adhesion to properly prepared metal surfaces, and is especially effective as a basecoat for Garland’s White-Stallion® restoration system.

Its resistance to mild industrial fumes and light chemical conditions make it an excellent primer for aging industrial roofs in need of restoration. It is designed for application to stainless steel, galvanized metals, Galvalume®-coated metals, copper, aluminum, and Kynar®-coated metal roof systems.

When applied as the primer coating under a White-Stallion topcoat, White-Stallion Metal Primer coating provides a durable foundation for a sustainable roof system that is easily maintained. The long-term cost benefits offered by this state-of-the-art technology include lower life-cycle costs and energy savings.

According to Charbel Boulos, P.Eng., general manager of Garland Canada Inc., “It’s user friendly; the ease of application makes White-Stallion Metal Primer fast and simple to install. Also, it can be used over a variety of metal substrates. It’s designed to maintain and protect metals from rusting and breaking down, and provides a clean surface for the coating system. White-Stallion Metal Primer protects and preserves metal rooftop investments, avoiding costly replacements due to oxidation and rust.”

Metal roof surfaces can be prepared for the primer by cleaning with a Tri Sodium Phosphate (TSP) cleaning agent or with a non-toxic biodegradable industrial cleaning solution such as Simple
