Explorys Wins Cloudera 2013 Data Impact Award

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) November 11, 2013

Explorys, the leader in big data-driven healthcare transformation, today announced that it has been selected as a recipient of Cloudera’s 2013 Data Impact Award in the “Social Impact” category. The “Social Impact” award recognizes that Explorys’ Hadoop-based platform has had a positive impact on society at large. Explorys received this award during the Strata+Hadoop World 2013 event in NYC on October 28th.

Presented by Cloudera, the leader in enterprise analytic data management powered by Apache Hadoop™, this award program recognizes innovative Hadoop applications that are driving major advancements across industry verticals. Specifically, the Cloudera “Social Impact” award honors Cloudera’s Distribution Including Apache Hadoop (CDH) user projects for their impact on organizations, businesses, and/or society. Award winners were decided by guest judges from across the enterprise management industry, including representatives from BeyeNETWORK, CTO Vision, Gartner, Integration Developer News, Ovum, RedMonk, The451 Group, and Accel.

“While our big data analytics platform offers the healthcare industry numerous benefits—like lowering costs and improving healthcare reform initiatives—our goal as a company is to deliver solutions that improve overall population health,” said Doug Meil, Chief Software Architect, Explorys. “We are honored that a prestigious company, like Cloudera, has recognized our commitment to delivering cloud-based technology that improves the wellbeing of individual patients and communities as a whole.”

Explorys was chosen as the award winner for its ability to support population health initiatives. The Explorys platform stood out for its ability to enable healthcare organizations to spot gaps in care; predict illnesses and trends in individuals; highlight preventative measures for providers; and help healthcare providers appropriately prescribe treatments based on what is most effective for each age, gender, race, and comorbidities of patients. With Explorys’ cloud-based platform, providers are able to view a clear picture of population health trends and use that information to treat their individual patients with better care that is more thoughtful and proactive.

“We established the Data Impact Award program to recognize organizations that are using Hadoop-based technology to make a difference in their respective industries,” said Mike Olson, Chief Strategy Officer and Chairman of the Board, Cloudera. “We received an overwhelming number of nominations, making this a competitive and tough decision, but after spending a considerable amount of time and effort researching each nominee, we are excited to present this ‘Social Impact’ award to Explorys for the company’s innovative work in population health management.”
