Dr. Stephen Van Roekel Named Facility Medical Director of First Choice Emergency Room’s New Austin, Texas Facility

First Choice Emergency Room, the leading freestanding emergency room system in the United States, announced Stephen Van Roekel, D.O., FACEP, FAAEM as Facility Medical Director of its new Austin Arboretum location. After graduating from Michigan State University, Dr. Van Roekel received his medical degree from Des Moines University in Iowa. He completed his emergency medicine residency at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Van Roekel has worked for First Choice ER since 2009.

“Dr. Van Roekel is an excellent emergency physician and we are proud to have him lead our newest location in Austin. We are confident he and his team will deliver world-class patient care,” said Dr. Mike Muzzarelli, Executive Medical Director of First Choice Emergency Room.

All First Choice Emergency Room facilities are open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The Austin Arboretum facility will be located at 10407 Jollyville Rd, Austin, TX 78759. The facility is staffed exclusively with board-certified emergency physicians and emergency trained registered nurses. The facility is equipped with state of the art diagnostic technology (CT Scanners, Ultrasound, Digital X-ray) and on-site COLA and CLIA accredited laboratories to handle emergency needs on the spot.
