Castle Dental® Provides Free Dental Care to Nearly 70 Austin Locals
Date:9/24/2018

On September 15, Castle Dental® in Austin, TX opened its doors to provide no cost dental services for those in need from their surrounding communities. Over 40 volunteers from neighboring Castle Dental offices arrived ready to serve many low-income, underinsured individuals, many of whom had not seen a dentist in years.

Smiles for Everyone Foundation partnered with local nonprofit organizations to help pre-screen and refer patients to the dental clinic. Partners include homeless shelters and support services organizations such as Caritas of Austin, a homeless support organization; Central Texas Food Bank; Refugee Services of Texas; and Mobile Loaves and Fishes, a community support organization.

Patients expressed their gratitude as they were leaving the office after their appointment, thanking the volunteers for their time and services:

“This visit means more to me than you can imagine. It’s the best thing that’s happened to me in years,” said patient Richard R., whose last dental appointment was six years ago.

Patient Johna M. states, “Thank you for helping me when no one else could. I am walking out with a smile!”

Volunteer providers included Dr. Samir Alrajab, Dr. Mihaela Atanasiu, Dr. Evan Blackwell, Dr. Ivan Candelario-Vega, Dr. Edgardo Gonzalez, Dr. Lan Dung Le, Dr. Luis Orraca, Dr. Lindsay Peterson, Dr. Francisco Somoza and Dr. Sravanthi Vasarla. Dental services provided include x-rays and exams, fillings, extractions and cleanings.

Overall, the Austin team provided care for nearly 70 patients, delivering over $60,000 in donated dentistry.

Our next Day of Giving will be on September 22, 2018, at Monarch Dental® in Lewisville, Texas. Click here to learn more about our Days of Giving and other programs!
