35 Year Old Jennifer Rosoff Tragically Dies after Falling 17 Stories from Her Manhattan Apartment's Balcony after Its Railing Suddenly Gave Way

According to multiple reports, including this August 1, 2013 CBS New York article titled "Woman Killed In 17-Story Fall From Midtown Manhattan Balcony", 35 year old Jennifer Rosoff was tragically killed in the early morning hours of August 1, 2013 when she fell from her apartment's balcony. According to the report, the victim was on a first date when she stepped onto her balcony to smoke a cigarette and sat on the balcony's railing. The railing suddenly collapsed, causing her to fall backward 17 stories down and land on a first floor construction scaffolding below. Ms. Rosoff was pronounced dead at the scene.

The building, known as "Stonehenge 57", is located in midtown Manhattan at First Avenue and 57th Street, and was visited by City building department investigators in the aftermath of the incident, who examined the stability of other balcony railings and ordered the building's residents to stay off their balconies until they are inspected.
