Date:2/22/2013

El Paso, TX (PRWEB) February 22, 2013

Vista College El Paso Campus, located at 6101 Montana Ave., is now offering a Medical Lab Technician Diploma program – the first such program offered by Vista College on any of its seven on-ground campuses throughout Texas and New Mexico. Providing training in different aspects of hematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, immunology and immunohematology as well as in the utilization of highly specialized equipment, the program can be completed in as little at 80 weeks with successful, full--time enrollment. Applicants are now being accepted for the first classes beginning March 18.

Through a combination of classroom and laboratory training, students will develop the essential skills, required by potential employers. Hands--on experience includes the use of specialized equipment and instruments such as microscopes and cell counters to analyze fluids, cells, and tissues for the identification of pathogens. Small class sizes taught by instructors with real--world experience provide students an effective learning experience.

“As we continue to grow our healthcare educational offerings, the new Medical Lab Technician program provides our students another option and career path within healthcare,” said Becky Canchola, Vista College Campus Director. “Graduates are equipped with the skills they need to start successful careers in hospitals, clinics, physician’s offices, biotech companies and regulatory agencies. This program is also a perfect option for students wanting to get into the healthcare field, but not wanting to go to school for several years.”

Graduates of Vista College also benefit from its Career Services Department which provides assistance in the preparation of effective resumes and cover letters; coaching to develop and fine--tune job interviewing skills as well as customized job search strategies based on individual professional
