Prognosis HIS Executive Slated To Offer EHR Advice At Illinois Rural Health Association Conference

HOUSTON, April 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Melanie Pita, J.D., will offer her expert perspective on  the electronic health records journey for rural hospitals as she presents "EHRs: Meaningful Use & Beyond" during the Illinois Rural Health Association's Annual Conference, being held  April 24-26, 2012, at the Thelma Keller Convention Center in Effingham, Ill.

During the presentation, Pita, who serves as executive vice president of product management at Prognosis Health Information Systems, will draw upon insights gained through a variety of client EHR successes, thereby providing practical strategies that rural providers can use to get on the fast track toward successful electronic health record (EHR) implementation, the realization of government incentive funds and, most importantly, long-term improved care and efficiency for rural populations. The presentation will zero in on how rural leaders can work toward the eradication of the current "digital divide" that exists in the health care industry, ultimately bringing computerization and improved care to all of the people who live in rural communities.

"Meaningful Use incentives provide eligible rural and community hospitals an opportunity to adopt information technology. With the right approach and the right technology, these providers now can improve the care and service that they provide to members of their communities," Pita says.

Prognosis HIS offers an enterprise clinical and financial solution built upon a cutting-edge architecture and offers both local and cloud-based implementation options. Prognosis serves rural and community hospitals all across the country. The system helps providers overcome the long-held financial and operational barriers to electronic health records success. Already, almost two dozen rural and community hospitals have leveraged the system to meet the government's Stage 1 meaningful use requirements and qualify for incentive funds under the HITECH provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
