Nicoya Lifesciences Accelerates Drug Discovery with New Product Release
Date:8/9/2018

Since their establishment in 2012, ambitions have been high at Nicoya Lifesciences. As a global leader in biotechnology and with a team nearly double its’ size from last year, the company is thrilled to announce the release of their new OpenSPR instrument. The sleek new OpenSPR turned heads and impressed crowds at a private product launch event during the annual Protein Society Symposium in Boston on July 11th.

Nicoya’s OpenSPR instrument is a highly sensitive biosensor, allowing scientists to better understand diseases and develop new drugs to treat them. With over 500 users in more than 25 different countries, the company continues helping scientists solve their toughest research challenges in both industry and academia. Nicoya is using nanotechnology to deliver on their promise — to provide cutting edge technology for a fraction of the price of competing products.

The new OpenSPR is a two channel system, offering double the measurement throughput and half the sample consumption. With their users in mind, Nicoya introduced several automated features in order to reduce errors, improve time to result, minimize downtime, and enhance data quality. “As a global leader in biotechnology, we obsess over creating the world’s most accessible and innovative products. We’re extremely proud of our team. They’ve worked around the clock to make the impossible possible and execute the vision of Nicoya. We’ve received extremely positive feedback and so much excitement from our users worldwide - it’s truly humbling to have so many great minds join our mission to help extend human lives” says Ryan Denomme, the company’s CEO and co-founder.

Since 2012, the OpenSPR has been featured in countless academic publications worldwide. This is no coincidence. The instrument has been specifically designed and perfected to save researchers from tedious, out-dated, and time consuming processes in order to publish faster. Despite the incredible advances they’ve made to date, #TeamNico says they’re just getting started.
