Das CFIC®-Verfahren arbeitet mit einem Schüttschichtfilter und hat den Vorteil eines viel höheren Transport von aufgelöstem Sauerstoff in den Biofilm, wenn man es mit anderen Biofilm-Systemen vergleicht, wie Biofilter und das MBBR-Verfahren (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactors). Die CFIC®-Technologie von Biowater senkt den Energieverbrauch um 30 % und mehr, insbesondere im Vergleich zu MBBR- und AS-Anlagen.

Das CFIC®-Verfahren wirkt wie ein Filter und fängt Feststoffe auf. Dies vereinfacht die weiteren Behandlungsprozesse und macht diese effektiver als dies bei Systemen mit suspendierter Biomasse und anderen Biofilmprozessen der Fall ist. Das CFIC®-Verfahren verbessert darüber hinaus die Filtrations- und Abscheideleistung und erzeugt so ein Abwasser, das eine höhere Qualität aufweist und für die Wiederaufbereitung geeignet ist.
