In “Nonwoven Air Filtration Media” attendees will be introduced to filtration mechanisms, processes for making fibrous filter media, specifications of filter media and filtration systems. Then they will discover the characteristics of fibrous filter media. These characteristics include packing density and porosity, experimentally calculated pore size, pore size distribution, experimentally calculated fiber size, and theoretically calculated pore size, and air permeability pressure drop.
In “Electrostatic Charging and Electrets for Air Filter Media” attendees will discover electrostatic charging methods and improvement of filtration efficiency. This includes corona charging theory, corona charging techniques, triboelectrification, polarization, induction and liquid contact charging.
Attendees will also be introduced to requirements of electrical properties of a material to make an electret, electrical characterization of electret, particle capturing of an electret, properties of electrets by particle loading and effect of fabric defects on the degradation of a filter media.
Two additional complementary courses are “Gas/Solid Separation with Fabric Filters” and “Gas/Solid Separation with Cyclones”. These are each half day courses, with one being offered in the morning on March 22nd and the other is held in the afternoon.
