Description Ciphergen's ProteinChip arrays have been developed for affinity capture of proteins from biological samples. A variety of ProteinChip chemical surfaces allow differential capture of proteins according to their unique biochemical properties. Each chip has eight different spots, allowing side-by-side sample comparison, and the chips are color-coded with a unique hydrophobic coating. Ciphergen's proprietary chip technology thus allows the researcher to rapidly capture, purify and characterize proteins directly on the chip.
Hydrophobic arrays bind proteins through hydrophobic surface interaction with amino acids such as alanine, valine, leucine, isoleucine, phenylalanine, tryptophan and tyrosine. Binding occurs in aqueous, high salt conditions and binding is reduced by decreasing salt and increasing the concentration of organics.
ProteinChip H4: contains a long-chain aliphatic surface that binds proteins by reverse phase interaction.
