Date:10/11/2018

ODSC Europe 2018 - one of Open Data Science Conference, LLC’s flagship events - saw a 100% increase in attendance at the event from September 19-22.

As Europe’s largest applied data science conference, ODSC Europe featured over 150 data science and artificial intelligence sessions across 10 tracks and 4 days. Attendees were given key insights and hands-on training in deep learning, machine learning and other data science topics by some of the leading minds and rising stars in data science.

This record-breaking number of conference attendees brought together over 1800 individuals, proving the importance of data science and AI, and how quickly the fields are growing. The event was headlined by keynotes from Dr. Mo Haghighi of IBM and Thomas Wiecki, Ph.D. of Quantopian.

In addition to the two above keynotes, we were honored to also host Dr. Wojciech Samek and Dr. Thomas Wiegand of the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute, and IDSIA Professor Jurgen Schmidhuber. Other notable speakers included Shioulin Sam, Ph.D. of Cloudera, Kevin Lemagnen of Cambridge Spark, Margriet Groenendijk of IBM, Julien Simon of Amazon, and multiple speakers from Microsoft.

ODSC Europe 2018 featured numerous topic areas for data scientists of all levels from beginner to advanced. Highlighted topics and talks included, but were not limited to, machine learning (“Machine Learning for Communication and Health,” “Machine Learning and Statistics”), deep learning (“Deep Learning for Developers,” “Deep Learning for Recommender Systems”), open data science (“Open Data to Understand Social Media AIs”), and AI (“Building an AI Lab Assistant,” “AI Nudging: Data, Privacy, and Manipulation”).

The conference was represented by numerous influential organizations in our Solution Showcase. Attending companies included IBM, DataRobot, IBM, LexisNexis, NYU, and more. Media partners in attendance included KDNuggets, Quantopian, R-bloggers, Data Science Central, and others.

Open Data Science Conference (ODSC) is the leader of applied data science conferences. Our conferences bring industry leaders, key executives, start-up companies, engineers, and investors on the threshold of innovation together. We delve into topics like artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, predictive analytics, natural language processing, data visualization, and research. We do this to make sure the future of technology, industry, academia, and the military are at the forefront of emerging technology and advancement into tomorrow’s future today.
